Your data, plainly

Estimatey runs on feedback, so we keep as little as possible and none of it identifies you. Here's exactly what we keep, why, and how to make us forget it.

What we keep

• Votes. When you press a voting button we store the tool, your choice, and a random code your browser invents (something like k3f9x2a1). The code lets us count people instead of clicks — it isn't linked to your name, email or anything else, and we couldn't identify you from it if we tried.
• Written feedback. Whatever you type in the feedback box, exactly as typed — so best not to put personal details in there.
• Quotes and prices you choose to share. If you press ‘Add this quote to the shared record’ in the Quote-Checker, we store your region, patio size, stone and what's there now; what the quote mentioned (in, out or unsaid) and any sub-base depth it gave; its VAT status, whether it was itemised, the deposit percentage and guarantee years; the month; and the totals as you entered them, with the typical range they were read against. ‘Add this price’ in the Supplier's Quote stores the region, stone, product name, price per m², VAT and delivery status and the month. Both carry the same random code, so you can delete them. Never who quoted you, never a supplier's name, never your name. Only sent when you press the button.
• A rate-limiting code. When your browser sends us anything, the server keeps a salted hash of the connection address for 24 hours, only to stop scripts flooding us — never the address itself, and it can't be turned back into one.
• Your email, only if you give it. Used for one thing: telling you when the next version is ready. No marketing lists, no sharing, no selling — the independence promise covers your data too.
• Visit counts. We use two privacy-respecting counters, GoatCounter and Cloudflare Web Analytics — no cookies, no advertising trackers, no cross-site anything. They tell us how many people visited which pages and how fast the pages felt — not who anyone is.

What we don't do

• No advertising trackers and no tracking cookies.
• No selling, renting or sharing anything with anyone.
• No profiles — we couldn't tell you who our visitors are, and we like it that way.

Your browser also keeps its own local copy of your votes, your job sheet choices, any quotes you've entered and any patio plan you save, so they're still there when you come back. That copy lives on your device, not with us. Shared quotes and prices are pooled into regional figures only once eight or more have come in, and are dropped after eighteen months.
